Job Summary
Implements and administers compensation policies and programs, recommends solutions and alternative actions to resolve compensation related matters. Functions as a consultant to management with regard to compensation matters. Leads/coordinates compensation projects as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Functions as a consultant to management by providing analysis and support on departmental reorganizations, job reclassifications, development of new job descriptions, and pay related decisions for new hires, promotions, market adjustments, and internal equity adjustments.
Review departmental request for various compensation matters.
Serves as a resource to Compensation Analyst during the reviews of reclassification requests and requests for new positions which includes gathering job analysis information, reviewing external market data, reviewing internal comparisons, and recommending grade/range, title, FLSA status and/or A&P status.
Ensures internal equity and external competitiveness with all recommendations/decisions.
Conducts special compensation studies and projects which may include internal equity reviews, special ad-hoc surveys, analyzing market trends, and developing recommendations.
Manages salary compensation tool (Pay Factors) and maintain salary survey sources; participate in salary surveys.
Functions as project lead on compensation projects which may include developing action plans and coordinating the work of others.
Utilizes HR systems to perform various actions, including but not limited to, creating new job codes, updating pay grades, running reports and queries.
Creates and delivers presentations and training on compensation related subjects.
Performs other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting or a related degree and at least three (3) years of experience in a compensation role conducting market analysis, performing internal equity reviews, job analysis and building moderately complex spreadsheets.
Preferred Qualifications
Expert background in statistics and compensation.
Experience with FLSA laws and regulations and basic employment law Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Equal Pay Act (EPA).
Excellent MS Excel skills and ability to build complex spreadsheets.
Experience with PeopleSoft.
PHR, SPHR and/or CCP a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and innovative skills.
Professional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to deliver results on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent skills in the use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Proficiency in job description preparation, job evaluation, and market analysis.
Knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Equal Pay Act (EPA).
