As a Commercial Bank OREO Officer, you are a part of Risk Management and Compliance and are at the center of keeping JPMorgan Chase strong and resilient. The Other Real Estate Owned (OREO) Team focuses on risk-management and maximizing the recovery on JPMC's bank-owned commercial real estate properties. In addition to the management and disposition of bank-owned properties, the OREO Team plays a key role in advising on non-performing credits, making recommendations to maximize recovery on a loan or OREO asset, and understanding inherent value of the real estate by analyzing property cash flows and working with brokers and other market participants prior to the acquisition of commercial OREO properties.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the Commercial Bank OREO Team in the management and disposition of bank-owned commercial real estate.

  • Manage a portfolio of bank-owned commercial real estate properties in the role of OREO Officer to protect the Bank from reputational, compliance, and legal risks, while maximizing the recovery to the Bank on the disposition of the properties.

  • Interface with the Special Credits Group (SCG), Credit Originations, real estate brokers, property management companies, in-house counsel, and outside counsel to determine the best solution for the disposition of bank-owned commercial properties. Lead negotiations when the Bank is in an Agent role on syndicated bank-owned commercial properties.

  • Interview, hire, and manage commercial real estate brokers, property management companies, and other vendors.

  • Review, negotiate, and execute management agreements, leases, purchase and sale agreements, and other legal documents.

  • Analyze monthly financial reports, oversee creation and adherence to the budget, work with property manager on the strategy for each property, and work with internal accounting to maintain accurate and timely reporting.

  • Prepare Asset Disposition Plans for the approval of budgets, fair market values, carrying values, minimum sale prices, and disposition strategies.

  • Present recommendations and updates on OREO properties to internal and senior management.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 10 years of professional experience related to the management and disposition of commercial real estate properties, including exposure to managing large syndicates as Agent.

  • Strong, clear, and concise verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • High degree of initiative, self-direction and ability to work well under pressure in a demanding environment.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Knowledge of Argus and Rockport VAL a plus.

  • Prior management and sales experience preferred, especially in commercial real estate properties.
